MAC By Request Lipsticks

MAC By Request is an online-only limited edition collection that MAC came out with where people voted for which lipsticks, lipglasses and eyeshadows they wanted to come out again in a collection. Everyone did an awesome job at picking the top three lipsticks! Candy Yum Yum, Moxie and Rocker probably represent MAC limited edition lipsticks the best!

All of these lipsticks are matte finishes, so all of them are pretty opaque after one layer on the lips. It does help to exfoliate and moisturize beforehand (but this should be a step you shouldn't miss anyway) to avoid the lipstick from pulling on your lips. They are so pigmented and one tube can really last you a lifetime (also because these aren't colors you would wear on a day-to-day basis). This finish can probably last me about 6 hours of wear and will leave a stain on my lips once taken off. All MAC lipsticks have a distinct vanilla scent, but isn't too overpowering and is tasteless. Another tip with bright and bold lipsticks like this is to use a lipliner and clean up with a concealer around the lips to create a crisp look without it bleeding throughout the day.

Candy Yum-Yum is a neon pink. I thought I got lucky when I got Dear Diary a few months back, but this is just plain darn bright! When this came out the first time, I wasn't into bright lipsticks yet and so I skipped on it. Little did I know that the hype for this lipstick was so high because it is such a beautiful color! It is a blue-based magenta color that just instantly attracts people when you wear it. (Dupes to come this weekend)

Moxie is a bright reddish pink shade. I was excited to get this lipstick because it's a pretty close dupe to MAC Party Parrot from the Iris Apfel collection (which I totally missed out on, sadly). It is such a beautiful red-pink shade that is definitely something different than your typical bright pink because it is on the warmer side. This also doesn't feel as matte as the other two and other matte lipsticks I've tried from MAC. It felt like a middle ground between matte and satin because it doesn't pull on my lips as I had expected. (Dupes to come this weekend)

Rocker is a burgundy-red with glitter. Although this has glitter in it, it isn't frosty or giving a sheen on the lips. It almost doesn't even appear once applied. Rocker is probably one of my personal favorites out of the bunch. I am just slowly warming up to reds and vampy lips for this upcoming fall, it's so perfect! It is definitely underrated and fun to wear! (Dupes to come this weekend)

These lipsticks all retail for $15.00 USD (Price difference effective August 1, 2012). Although 2/3 are sold out, you can still grab Rocker, which is such a beautiful color! An underrated color that I absolutely adore! P.S. I may also do a giveaway of one of these lipsticks on my Instagram (@naohms) and on here so stay tuned!
